PayPal is a Thief

It has been over a month since all my money was stolen from my PayPal account, and almost a month since PayPal promised to refund all of my money to my account, but it has still not been refunded to me. I have been in communication with them every few days; they either ignore me or make promises they do not keep, and now PayPal has taken money from my credit card to cover the losses THEY are supposed to have reimbursed me for! Of course, eBay is the parent company, and so they are together in this fraud situation, but there is no way to get a live voice on the phone to talk to someone and get this resolved.

I have filed a claim with the FBI, but that may take years, so it looks like I am just out my money.

Sorry this happened to you, Rhonda. If you can, you might consider cancelling the credit card associated with PayPal before they rob you again. It's a PITA but it might be a good idea. Just be sure that you empty your PayPal account a few days before you do.

After eBay got hacked, I closed my bank account and re-opened one that PayPal could not access. I later received a refund from a seller which went to my PayPal account. With no bank account on file, I could not transfer funds.

I would not give them new bank account info so I planned to spend the $25 refund with a merchant who accepted PayPal. Before I found something to purchase, the $25 mysteriously disappeared from my PayPal account with no record that it ever existed.

So cover all your bases and always assume that the worst thing you can imagine really could happen when dealing with PayPal.

Please check out PayPalSucksDOTcom. They have a help forum and lots of information on things you can do in an effort to resolve your problem with PayPal.

Good luck!
